Igniting Dreams
Dreams are at the core of every person. It is there that our passion for life is ignited.
Matthew Kelly
People in the workplace, churches, homes, and communities today are actively disengaged. Disengaged people are negatively affecting our society. When we stop dreaming we slowly begin to disengage from our work, our relationships and from life itself. It’s so easy to get caught up in surviving that we stop dreaming. As leaders, we have to focus on encouraging people and giving people permission to pursue their dreams.
In the workplace, many people believe they are being used. This belief is also reflected in our society. But if we, as leaders, can genuinely convince people we have their best interest at heart; we can reverse that belief; and in the process, create a spirit of solidarity and loyalty, rarely evident in the world before now. When we know the dreams of the people around us, we want to help them live those dreams. In helping people live their dreams we become personally invested in them – one of the fundamentals of relationship building. When leaders help people to fulfill their dreams people will bring the passion and energy they have for their dreams to their work, church, home and community.
Living Abundantly, Inc., and DreamMart International have partnered together to inspire leaders to permit their employees, subordinates, family members and fellow citizens to dream; and to dream big. But first, in order for this approach to be truly effective, leaders themselves must dream. Dreams are the visions that shape our lives. Dreams drive us!
By permitting our employees, subordinates, family members and fellow citizens to dream or to dream again, it will create an allegiance that is unmatched. Nothing animates us like chasing down our dreams. When people are chasing their dreams, the positive energy that is generated spills over into their personal and professional lives. The hunger to achieve goals and dreams become almost insatiable. The desire for continuous improvement becomes a guiding force in their daily lives. All of this will inevitably overflow into their work, and in the process, will elevate our homes, our businesses, our society, our world.
Dreams are bridges. As leaders, we are to help people build a bridge between their NOW and a better FUTURE. Matthew Kelly, the author of The Dream Manager states, “You tell me what your dreams are and I’ll tell you what sort of a person you are.” “Your dreams tell me not only what sort of a person you are today, but also what sort of person you aspire to be in the tomorrows of your life.” Eleanor Roosevelt said it perfectly, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” As leaders, we must encourage and give people permission to pursue their dreams. Dreams are at the core of every person. It is there that our passion for life is ignited. Let’s begin by igniting dreams! |
